The glory you have given me, I have given to them

It feels really good to write again. I know I don't write very well, but I enjoy it so much. It's even more enjoyable when I'm actually writing and not typing. Lol Well lets get into this verse(s) from John 17:22. Jesus says, "John 17:20-24 (ESV)

20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. 24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.

Yes.. this is the famous high priestly prayer and as I'm reading John 17 I run into verse 22: It says "The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one..." I'm thinking what? Hold up! Jesus just said he gave us glory. What glory? hahaha so I decided to look up some commentary. And I unashamedly looked up John Calvin's commentary about this verse to gain some more insight. (By the way he is not infallible, but he's a great teacher of the word of God).

John Calvin writes:

And I have given to them the glory which thou gavest to me. Let it be observed here, that, while a pattern of perfect happiness was exhibited in Christ, he had nothing that belonged peculiarly to himself, but rather was rich, in order to enrich those who believed in him. Our happiness lies in having the image of God restored and formed anew in us, which was defaced by sin. Christ is not only the lively image of God, in so far as he is the eternal Word of God. but even on his human nature, which he has in common with us, the likeness of the glory of the Father has been engraved, so as to form his members to the resemblance of it. Paul also teaches us this, that
we all, with unveiled face, by beholding THE GLORY OF GOD, are changed into the same image,(2 Corinthians 3:18.) Hence it follows, that no one ought to be reckoned among the disciples of Christ, unless we perceive the glory of God impressed on him, as with a seal, by the likeness of Christ.

Did you get that? I didn't the first time I read it, but what intrigued me the most was 2 Corinthians 3:18, so I looked up the verse. "And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit." What? This is amazing. Did you miss it? Let me add some verses: 2 Corinthians 3: 12-18: 12 Since we have such a hope, we are very bold, 13not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end. 14But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away. 15Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. 16But when onec turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. 17Now the Lordd is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord,e are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.f For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

I thought this to be so amazing. I don't fully understand it, but it seems that because of Christ I am now being exposed to this glory that is revealed through the word by the Holy Spirit so that I may reflect Christ's glory.

But I'm not done yet if you keep reading John Calvin's commentary on John 17:23 you will see something even more amazing:

23. I in them, and thou in me; for he intends to teach that in him dwells all fullness of blessings, and that what was concealed in God is now manifested in him, that he may impart it to his people, as the water, flowing from the fountain by various channels, waters the fields on all sides. And hast loved them, [126] He means that it is a very striking exhibition, and a very excellent pledge, of the love of God towards believers, which the world is compelled to feel, whether it will or not, when the Holy Spirit dwelling in them sends forth the rays of righteousness and holiness. There are innumerable other ways, indeed, in which God daily testifies his fatherly love towards us, but the mark of adoption is justly preferred to them all. He likewise adds, and hast loved them, As Thou Hast Loved Me. By these words he intended to point out the cause and origin of the love; for the particle as, means because, and the words, As thou hast loved me, mean, Because thou hast loved me; for to Christ alone belongs the title of Well-beloved, (Matthew 3:17; Matthew 17:5.) Besides, that love which the heavenly Father bears towards the Head is extended to all the members, so that he loves none but in Christ.

Yet this gives rise to some appearance of contradiction; for Christ, as we have seen elsewhere [127] declares that the unspeakable love of God towards the world was the reason why he gave his only-begotten Son, (John 3:16.) If the cause must go before the effect, we infer that God the Father loved men apart from Christ; that is, before he was appointed to be the Redeemer. I reply, in that, and similar passages, love denotes the mercy with which God was moved towards unworthy persons, and even towards his enemies, before he reconciled them to himself. It is, indeed, a wonderful goodness of God, and inconceivable by the human mind, that, exercising benevolence towards men whom he could not but hate, he removed the cause of the hatred, that there might be no obstruction to his love. And, indeed, Paul informs us that there are two ways in which we are loved in Christ;

first, because the Father chose us in him before the creation of the world,
(Ephesians 1:4;)

and, secondly, because in Christ God hath reconciled us to himself, and hath showed that he is gracious to us, (Romans 5:10.) Thus we are at the same time the enemies and the friends of God, until, atonement having been made for our sins, we are restored to favor with God. But when we are justified by faith, it is then, properly, that we begin to be loved by God, as children by a father. That love by which Christ was appointed to be the person, in whom we should be fiercly chosen before we were born, and while we were still ruined in Adam, is hidden in the breast of God, and far exceeds the capacity of the human mind. True, no man will ever feel that God is gracious to him, unless he perceives that God is pacified in Christ. But as all relish for the love of God vanishes when Christ is taken away, so we may safely conclude that, since by faith we are ingrafted into his body, there is no danger of our falling from the love of God; for this foundation cannot be overturned, that we are loved, because the Father hath loved his Son. [128]

Beautiful right?

Well, as closing, God has given us glory in the sense of He is changing us into the image of Christ/ changing us from glory to glory.  Here is it again:

20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. 24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.

Grace and Peace

Waiting on the Lord

Looking back at your life you know God is so faithful. You can think of countless moments of things God has personally done for you. But the one thing that might of been hard was the wait. You know God is faithful, but the wait is so hard sometimes. You know that God's plan for your life will be good and it will glorify his name! So nothing to worry about really, but the wait or the time.

I think of certain people in the bible who waited on the Lord. They waited for a promise, a very specific promise. The Most famous of them all is Abraham: "I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and will give to your offspring all these lands. And in your offspring all the nations of the earth shall be blessed." And this promise had a purpose- it was leading to something or rather someone, Jesus! The one who would be stricken so that we could be saved!

Soooo I am waiting on the Lord, but I want it to lead to knowing and loving Jesus more. And ultimately I want it to glorify God. I have an “idea” of the things I want, but I know that what God has planned will be far greater than I could eve imagine. Lord, your will be done!

Here are some verses that have encouraged me to continue to wait on the Lord. I hope they bless and encourage you! Grace and Peace!

Psalm 25:3- "Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed"
Isaiah 40:31- "but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."

Romans 10:11- "For the Scripture says, 'Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.'"
Romans 8:28- "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, whoi have been called according to his purpose"

Confessions of a sinner made saint by the precious blood of the Lamb!

Beauty. I used to live for this. I really thought it was everything. I mean I would've never said such a thing to anyone, not even my closest friends. But the reality is 4 years ago I lived as if beauty was everything. And let me tell you. I thought I had it. I had a dancer body, curly natural hair, straight teeth, and high yellow skin. Lol Yet, at the end of the day my beauty failed me. It did not give me or allow me to keep the things I desired. Not a man, nor status, nothing.

But that was 4-5 years ago. It is now 2017, but I have learned so much about my life, about myself, about my neighbors, and mostly importantly I've learned so much about God- The Trinity God (The only God). And suprisingly, now that I'm a new creation in Christ-- I say with confidence to those reading this- Whether in Christ or not in Christ outside beauty means absolutely nothing. I know I needed this reminder too. (You might be saying if your a christian, "of course it doesn't," but oh how we humans forget!)

Anyways..beauty in itself will not sustain you or give you anything. Especially outward beauty for it is only temporary and will fade away! However, there is someone--only one person whose beauty is so amazing that He makes the dead come back to life. I know right, amazing! Christ Jesus and His finished work on the cross is full of Beauty. His beautifully perfect sinless life, death on the cross, and resurrection gives you: life (eternal life), hope, peace, joy, self control, patience, kindness, Etc. The list goes on. It's a completely changed life! And the best part about it is when you believe in this his Spirit is poured into you (Note: the fruits of the spirits mentioned above), making you sealed for the eternal glory that awaits after your body perishes (or when Jesus comes back- who knows you might be alive during this time lol).

I encourage you to seek after Christ and allow the beauty of the gospel to captivate your mind.

Today Lord, I confess that I want to see the beauty of the gospel (not my own beauty that is so often used for selfish gain) so that I can be transformed into the person you want me to be which brings glory to you/reveals your beauty! In Jesus name Amen!

Foolishness

Do you know the definition of foolishness?  Well, according to Google it means: lack of good sense or judgment; stupidity. And look Google even gives us an example sentence: "she was realizing the foolishness of her actions." Now, who can admit to such a thing? I can! Oh I can! If I can describe my actions this past month I would say-- Foolishness. I want you to know the definition of the word Foolishness used in the bible:

móros: dull, stupid, foolish
Original Word: μωρός, ά, όν
Part of Speech: Adjective
Transliteration: móros
Phonetic Spelling: (mo-ros')
Short Definition: stupid, foolish
Definition: (a) adj: stupid, foolish, (b) noun: a fool.
HELPS Word-studies
3474 mōrós (the root of the English terms, "moron, moronic") – properly, dull (insipid), flat ("without an edge"); (figuratively) "mentally inert"; dull in understanding; nonsensical ("moronic"), lacking a grip on reality (acting as though "brainless").
[This root (mōr-) "properly refers to physical nerves causing one to become dull, sluggish (so Hipp., Aristotle); used of the mind, dull, stupid, foolish" (Abbott-Smith); "flat/insipid" (WS, 1062). 3474 (mōrós) is used ironically of apparent stupidity in 1 Cor 1;25,27, 3:18.]

I know.. I know... i'm a fool! I am indeed a foolish women! The one who gazes on those things that are temporary. The one who sees danger and instead of running the opposite direction saying, "Well maybe I can help Lord. Let me take it from here." I liken my foolishness to Adam really. The first Adam. I have heard many people say I wouldn't have eaten from the tree, but when I look at the choices I've made (especially this month) I can say I would've eaten from that tree. I would've disobeyed God just like Adam. The reality of that makes me cry bitterly just like Peter did when he denied being a follower of Jesus three times. Oh I am no better than these men or women who have lived before me. Just another foolish women.  For I do not understand my actions. Paul writes in Romans 7. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.16Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. 17So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. 18For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. 19For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. 20Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. 21So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. 22For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, 23but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. 24Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Lord, help me. Help me to have patience and to know that you are sovereign over every detail in my life, which ultimately is for your glory. Also, Lord continue to renew my mind. I need your wisdom, your counsel, and your Love! In Jesus Name - Amen!

You Take it, and allow your will to be done in my life!

That moment you realize the Holy Spirit tried to tell you something about a situation and you just ignored it. You convinced yourself that it wasn't bad and tried to make excuses for it or just simply tried justifying your actions. Then the very thing you knew that was going to happen happens and you know there is no one to blame but yourself. It doesn't matter if others were in the wrong or not, BUT you knew you could have made a different choice but you didn't. You tried to hold onto something you knew would never be anything at all.

There is a strange pain of knowing that you have so long to go before you ever get this something you desire. In a sense, you failed, your wrong choice shows you are not ready to have what even God desires for you.

The you decide that giving what you desire to God is best, and say Lord "You take it, and allow your will be done in my life." Yet, there is this slight temptation to look at what you gave God and desire it back AND  a deep pains comes from that. Why? It's a pain that comes from your selfishness and your unwillingness to let go. Only you're causing it! Instead of trusting God you still hold onto what you want.

Oh temptation! You desire for me to rebel against my God. To call him a liar, unfaithful and unloving. But you're wrong. Oh my God loves me... he has revealed it through his Son, Jesus Christ! He has lavished his love on me by sending His Son to die on a cross to pardon my sin.

This all reminds me of Beautiful Eulogy's song, "Release me from this snare"

Release Me From The Snare Lyrics

[Verse 1: Braille]
I acknowledge my sin to You and I did not cover my iniquity
Theres nowhere to hide from Your all seeing eyes
You know everything I can't tell you a lie
You know my own own heart much better than I
You know when I sleep and You know when I rise
You know all the thoughts that go through my mind
From morning to night every moment of pride
I acknowledge my sin to You and I did not cover my iniquity
You know what I've done. You know what I do
So I open my mouth and confess it to You
And You're making me new with your spirit at work
To convict me in sin so I know where to turn
And I know where to run, run to your arms
To be cleansed of my sin by the blood of Your son
Hey! I acknowledge my sin I know I can't kill it with a knife or a gun
It must be crucified on the cross with your son
Then I can know it is finished and done

Then I can know that I'm truly forgiven
And get to the business of living for You
And its not for my glory but its only for You
And its speaks of your mercy your loving Your truth
Give me the faith to believe what You say
And trust in Your word when I'm tempted to stray
And to patiently wait for the day You return
I hate my sin it burns!
[Hook: Braille]
The old will pass away, while I'm still here You hear my prayer
Please, wash my sins away, oh Lord release me from this snare
The old will pass away, while I'm still here You hear my prayer
Please, wash my sins away, oh Lord release me from this snare

***Note: One of the saddest moments in my life. I look to God to restore this brokenness at the wedding feast.

So what aspect of God’s obedience am I thankful for? Philippians 2:6-8

6“Who, being in very naturea God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very natureb of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!”

God is nothing like me. He is perfect. I can really trust him. Even with the hurt that I have endured or even when I’m confused about something. If I can just look at him and see his humility and love- His love that has no boundaries- & his humility that says, “NOT even my thrown kept me from coming to save you personally and bringing YOU close to me” than I can trust him and be thankful for what he has ALREADY done in my life. His very nature is love. His obedience was done in love.

So what aspect of God’s obedience am I thankful for? It would be Christ Humility and unfailing steadfast love to come in a human body and die on a cross for ME so that I could be adopted as a child of God!!! I’m a women who is soooooooo undeserving of this right, but God has clothed me with his righteousness has changed, is changing and will change my heart in its entirety.

New Poems - New season

The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
Humble you are. Coming down from your throne to pardon me. Dying a death you did not deserve. My rightful place, I did deserve. This wretched sinner that I am. Nonetheless, you came, conquered sin and death making me alive. While also granting me eternal life. This gift of God who could deny? Oh not me, oh not I. For is it only by grace through faith I have been saved. Any other way is considered vain.
